Family tradition
Barco las Culebras, is a family winery that belongs to the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin and makes its wines with the 100% Tempranillo native grape. Its creator, Víctor Alonso, is also the manager / owner of the winery that has 20 hectares of its own vineyards. Our vineyards are located at an altitude of 900 meters in the Pesquera de Duero moor, Valladolid province, cradle of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin.
The vineyards
Our vineyards located in the estate of FINCA LLANO SANTIAGO are the guarantee for regularity and own personality. Its location and orientation avoid phytosanitary problems in our plots, offering a quality grape. The variety we work with is the “Tinta del País-Tempranillo”. The land on which the vineyards are located presents a combination of calcareous and clayey soils that give the wines an outstanding complexity.
THE WINES
Our wines are presented as signature wines mainly due to the quality of our Tempranillo and the limitation in terms of production. The grapes are harvested manually at the optimum moment of maturation and the quality of our grapes comes from the same estate / plot. To make our aging wines, we use French (70%) and American (30%) barrels. After all this delicate process, we have before us the Barco las Culebras wine. The objective of Barco las Culebras is to create a unique, high-quality wine, based on enthusiasm and effort. The main characteristic of our wines is that they are easy to drink, with a smooth entry on the palate, well balanced and with a moderate degree of acidity. They give off very good aromas of red and tropical fruits.
